macOS Wake-on-LAN
Macs support wake from sleep, and it is enabled by default.
Find the MAC Address
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu >
System Settings
, then clickNetwork
in the sidebar. - Select the network that is
Connected
to the local network. - Click
Advanced
on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) - The MAC address is listed in the pop-up.
Enable WoL on a Mac laptop
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu >
System Settings
, then clickBattery
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) - Click
Options
on the right. - Click the menu next to
Wake for network access
, then choose an option. - Click Done.
Enable WoL on a Mac desktop
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu >
System Settings
, then clickEnergy Saver
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) - Turn on
Wake for network access
on the right.
Confirm the MAC Address is not set to rotate
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu >
System Settings
, then clickNetwork
. - Select the network that is
Connected
to the local network. - In the
Private Wi-Fi address
section, confirm the setting is set toFixed
orOff
.
